When ceremony was outlawed and the old ways were driven into silence, Anishinaabe women did not let the knowledge die. They kept it where no one thought to look — in the flowers. Every petal stitched into a bandolier bag, every blossom beaded onto a pair of moccasins, carried memory: this plant heals, this one feeds, this one is mashkiki — medicine. What looked like decoration to the outside world could be read like a library, sewn in glass beads and thread.
It passed mother to daughter, stitch by stitch, season by season. A girl learned the patterns from the woman before her, and in learning the flowers she learned what they stood for — which root for a fever, which leaf to ease a grief, which bloom to gather and when. The wreath of cream and red on this shirt is not ornament. It is that inheritance, carried in plain sight through the years when carrying it openly was forbidden.
This shirt is more than a design. It is a remembrance of the women who refused to forget — who turned beauty into a hiding place, and a hiding place into survival, so that the medicine in the flowers would still be there when their granddaughters came looking.
They outlawed the ceremony — but never the flowers that kept it.

Each piece is made to order, just for you. It usually ships within 2 to 5 business days, then arrives in about 5 to 10 business days within the United States. You will receive a tracking number the moment it ships.

Every piece is made to order, just for you. If your order arrives damaged, flawed, or incorrect, send us a photo within 7 days and we will replace it or refund you in full. If the size is not right, we gladly exchange any unworn, unwashed item with tags within 14 days. Because each item is printed to order, we cannot accept returns on worn or washed items.
